Flat Bread

We are carb junkies in our family.

The only thing that we like better than hot bread from the oven is Cinnamon rolls.
I promised the bread that went with fresh raspberry jam.  So here it is.

5 – 6 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups hot water (110-115 degrees)
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp canola oil
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp SAF yeast

In your mixer bowl stir together whole wheat flour, 1 cup four, sugar, salt and yeast. Combine hot water and oil, add slowly to flour mixture while mixer is going.  Beat until smooth.  Add enough of the remaining flour to form soft dough.  Knead dough about 5 minutes.  Remove dough from mixer. Cover and let raise until double.  Punch down and divide into two balls.  Place balls on greased cookie sheets and flatten to about 1 inch.  Pierce loaves with fork several times forming diagonal lines.  Let raise, not quit double. Bake 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. YUM!

Enjoy!

  1. Looks so good. I guess I’m gonna have to break out of my comfort zone and buy some yeast and try making homemade bread. (it really scares me :0 ) Thanks for sharing. <3 Kim

  2. This looks delicious. I make sweet breads (banana, blueberry, pumpkin, etc.) all the time but not regular ones, pinning to try out later. Thanks for sharing on the weekend re-Treat link party.
