Americana Welcome

In an effort to use up more stuff and make something new for the 4th of July I came up with this super easy welcome.

I found a couple of short 2″ X 4″ pieces and cut them into 2-3 1/2″, 3″, 4″, 5″ 5 1/2″ and 6″ lengths.  The size of each letter block is as follows: W- 5 1/2 “, E- 3 1/2″,L- 6 1/2”. C- 3 1/2″, O or heart 4″,

M -3″, E- 5″. I sanded all the edges and painted them red, white, and blue with craft paint.

I hunted through the fonts on my computer and found one I liked and went to town sizing letters to fit my blocks. I decided what color for each letter and printed them on mate photo paper (the color will run on regular paper using an ink jet printer.)  I carefully cut them out and pasted them on each block using one coat of  “Mod Podge” and pressing firmly and evenly.

I cut out the stars and randomly placed them on the blocks and painted two more coats of “Mod Podge” to seal the paper and give it a hard finish.  If you’d like to use my designs press here for the heart, welcome letters and stars.  The fun apple pattern will come in another post.  Happy 4th of July!
