I made these blocks last year, before I even thought of having a blog. I was however beginning my Pinterest addiction. I fell in love with these “wicked” blocks, so I decided to make my own. I knew how to spray paint and mod podge, but I didn’t and still don’t have a vinyl cutter.
So… I drew the letters on black scrapbook paper and hoped for the best. Crazy I know!
I think they turned out pretty good.
If I knew then what I know now I would have found fun Halloween fonts, printed them out and then traced them on to black scrapbook paper, because like I said, I don’t have a vinyl cutter.
Hint, Hint, Santa!
I’m on Pinterest way too much and find far to many fun projects to do with vinyl.
Okay! back to Halloween blocks. They really are very easy. I’m not going to give you the measurements of each block because it might through you off when you pick your fonts and sizes.
I will say they range from 4 1/2 inches to 8 1/2 inches, but have fun with it.
You will need:
- 1 – 2×4 cut to your measurements
- black spray paint
- Halloween themed scrapbook paper cut slightly smaller than block
- vinyl letters or black scrapbook paper
- mod podge
- paint brush

Yes I really love these! I am terrible with letters though, hoping for my cutter for my upcoming birthday! 🙂
I hope you get it. What a great Birthday present!
Super cute! I’ve made some like this for fall and halloween too – simple and fun!
These are SO cute! I’m really impressed that you freehanded those letters! GOOD job! I love the paper you used as well. 🙂
Thanks Amy. I really don’t draw that well, I’ve just learned if you line up your scissors right they can fix a shaky pencil line.
I just love these, and the papers you chose are great! I featured this on my blog today! I’m just stopping by to pin it and say thanks again for sharing!
