School has started in my neck of the woods and it has me reminiscing. I love breakfast food. I’m not sure what it is that makes my mouth water, but I love it. I’m thinking about blaming my mom (ha, ha). She always wanted to make sure we had a good breakfast before school, so she would make breakfast almost everyday. She made it so often and we loved it so much that instead of automatically pouring a bowel of cereal we would check to make sure she didn’t have something else in mind. Waffles were always special. Even when we had them every week.
I’m a first time school mom this year and I plan on carrying out this family tradition. My husband may be more thrilled than my kids.
Waffles don’t have to have fancy syrups or expensive toppings to be special and yummy! So don’t be intimidated – waffles really are easy. Everyday waffles with fruit or jam are really good too. Personally I just want a little butter and homemade syrup. Those are my perfect Everyday Waffles.
How do you like your waffles?
Waffles
3 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups milk
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
Mix dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt) in a large bowel. Add vanilla, milk and eggs. Mix well, mixture will be lumpy. Add oil and combine well. Bake in your favorite waffle iron (follow manufactures instructions). Serve immediately or keep warm in the oven. Top with your favorite toppings.

I seriously need to invest in a good waffle iron! I keep seeing these awesome waffle recipes (like yours). I like my waffles with a great big heaping of whipped cream and fruit. Or, if I’m in a rush, with a shmear of peanut butter for the road. Stopping by from Wednesday Extravaganza 🙂
I’ve never had peanut butter on my waffle. Sounds good! Thanks for visiting.
