My husband is a great one to go through the refrigerator and look for things to be eaten or made into something that could be frozen. This time it was Asiago Cheese. He found a recipe, and we seldom follow a recipe exactly and this one is no exception, but I will share what I made because it is turned out so delicious.
6-8 cups flour
2 Tbsp Saf yeast
1 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 1/2 cups hot water (as hot as you can get out of your tap)
1/2 cup powdered milk
2 1/2 cups grated Asiago Cheese, grated
2 eggs
1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
Garlic powder
In mixer bowl, combine 3 cups flour, yeast, powdered milk, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix in water and 1 well beaten egg. Add one more cup of flour and then alternate 2 cups of Asiago cheese and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead well. Let raise until double. Punch down and divide into four pieces. Form into long loaves and place on two greased jelly roll pans. Let raise until double. Make 3 slashes with knife. Brush with remaining egg (well beaten) the remaining 1/2 cup of Asiago cheese, Parmesan Cheese and garlic powder as desired. Sprinkle each loaf with a couple of pinches of Kosher salt for a little extra savory flavor. Bake 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Thank you for stopping by. Just a hint it’s best fresh from the oven so have your wine ready.

I love Asiago bagels too. I hope this meets your expectation. Thanks for stopping by.
This looks delicious! My first job was at Panera, and nothing was better than an Asiago bagel fresh from the oven, so I can only imagine how wonderful this will taste!
