In trying to decide what to make for dessert this weekend I turned to an old, simple easy to make favorite. In my continual search for something new, I forget what we
used to make when the kids were little.
Rice Krispies Treats have been around forever. I think every possible variation has been tried — different colors, swirls of of this or that flavored chips, peanut butter, shapes, frosted, not frosted, even different cereals. I am sure there are many others
I decided to make my favorite variation of this classic treat. “Chocolate-Peanut Butter”. Much to my surprise it was a big hit. Comments like “I love these”, “These things are addicting” and ” I really shouldn’t have another one”.
I don’t know where this recipe came from. It was probably on a package label of one of the name brand manufacture of an ingredient. All I know is that they are delicious and I myself ate too many. YUM!!!
1/4 cup butter
1 bag Marshmallows
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
5-6 cups Krispie Rice cereal (there are several brands)
2 cups milk chocolate chips
2 cups peanut butter chips
Over medium heat, in a large pot melt butter and marshmallows stirring constantly until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter and stir until combined. Stir in Krispie cereal until coated.
Press into a buttered 9″ X 13″ pan. While cooling combine and melt chips.
Note: I use a make shift double boiler but if you are good with the microwave method you can use that.
When thoroughly melted spread over the top of the set Krispies. Refrigerate to set. Cut into 24 squares and serve. Store extras, if there are any,
in an air tight container to keep fresh.

Enjoy!
YUM! I wish I had one of these right now! Looks amazing. Pinned!
I would offer you one but they are all gone. They went very fast. Thanks for your comment. I hope you can make some soon. Come see us again.
That looks delicious. I haven’t make rice krispy treats in forever.
I hadn’t made them for a long time either. I forget about them. Thank you for dropping in.
Extras? I think I could eat the whole pan! I am definitely trying these with the kids this weekend. Make sure you stop by my Tasty Tuesday blog hop and link up!
