One of the thing many things I like about winter is when your cooking, things seem to smell more wonderful when it’s cold than when it’s hot outside. Hot Mulled Cider is one of those wonderful smells that makes you warm all over.
It is simple to make and ready in no time.
Hot Mulled Cider
2 quarts apple cider
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp whole allspice berries
1 tsp whole cloves
1/4 tsp salt
Dash nutmeg (ground)
3 inches stick cinnamon
1 orange, sliced
In a large sauce pan combine cider, brown sugar, allspice, cloves, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove spices. Note: If you have cheese cloth, place spices in a square tied up with string for easy removal.
Serve warm and garnish with orange slices, on the side of the cup or floating.
Great any time!
