Project Completed, This Time Mine

The old adage that time goes faster as we get old is true. I swear that my day only has 18 hours these days. No, I’m not going to tell you how old I am. As I make items for our Etsy Shop, gifts through out the year and things needed to help the kids I don’t always take the time for my own projects. Well finally I did. Project completed, this time mine.

A couple of years ago a friend from the quilt group I belong to brought her “Sew Spooky” block of the month quilt as her current project. I feel in love with this quilt.

The project

About a year and a half ago I made up my own kit using fabrics from my stash. Borrowed the pattern and used it as my quilt group project for that time period. With the help of the ladies in my quilt group, who made the house blocks, the project moved forward. With the center blocks finished I brought the project home. If memory serves my right it sat for a few weeks while other things were made. But this time it didn’t last long. I was determined to have it finished before October 1st. I wanted to hang it on the wall the entire month as Halloween décor.

Our quilt group meets on the 2nd Monday of every month and the quilt top was ready to show the ladies. Fall is a busy time for items in the shop but I was on a roll with this project. As the quilting started I soon realized that it was going to take longer than I thought. I didn’t quite meet my goal. It was quilted, bound and hug on the wall October 2nd. But Hurray! Project completed, this time mine. It added the perfect whimsy to my family room.
