Another family favorite passed down from Grandma. Always soft and chewy – even the edges.
Ingredients
3/4 cup molasses
1/3 cup shortening
1 egg beaten
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/4 cup flour
Directions
In saucepan combine shortening and molasses stir until shortening melts. Set aside and cool. In separate bowel mix egg, sugar, and milk. Add to saucepan. Sift together baking soda, cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, and flour. Stir into molasses mixture until well blended. Spread into creased 12″x18″x1″ pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 min. Cool and frost.
