If you need a great dessert for a party or dinner that looks like a pro or that you slaved over for a long time this is the one. I always get comments like I can’t get,
marble cakes to work or look good. It really is quite simple.
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
4 eggs separated
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup cocoa powder
Sift two sugars together and cream with butter. Add unbeaten egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each. Mix in vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk starting and ending with flour mix. Beat egg whites and fold into batter. Pour 3/4 batter into well greased and floured bundt pan. Stir enough water into cocoa powder to make a smooth paste, just a little thicker than the batter consistency, fold into remaining batter. Spoon chocolate mixture on top the batter in pan forming a circle around the center. With a spatula, starting on the outer edge of the chocolate circle, slowly make a down and up circular motion through the batter (this will swirl the chocolate down through the vanilla batter and bring vanilla batter up to the top) as you gently turn the pan clockwise until you get back to your starting point. Bake at 350 degrees 55-60 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to platter and frost or glaze with your favorite recipe.
You’re going to love it.
