Show and Tell Saturday #4

For years I watched my mother make things to give as gifts for Christmas, Birthdays, Mother’s Day, and any other holiday you give gifts.  It is no surprise I like to do the same thing.  After my nephew was born I decided that my mom needed a decoration about grandkids.  It was her first grandchild and I knew he was going to be spoiled, as I knew all grandchildren would be at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  I set off to find the perfect gift.  I knew I wanted it to say, “Grandkids Spoiled Here” but beyond that I really was not sure.  I had just caught the sewing bug and was (1) too cheap to go buy a pattern (not that I could find one I liked) and (2) too picky about what I wanted that I decided to design my own project.

This was my first true attempt and making a pattern. I really had no idea what I was doing.  I knew enough to make sure that it would fit together properly, and I had a computer and printer to use to get shapes and letters.  I jumped right in and built what I could, then I found some great buttons to add to what I had created.

It was definitely not perfect, but I learned about the design process and well, my mom loved it!  That was enough for me.
