Herb Dressing

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.
My family loves good food and good company.  Thanksgiving day we get both.
Some years we have had extra friends to dinner and a few years ago we took the whole thing to great grandma’s house in another state.

Wherever we are the fact remains the same, the “Herb Dressing” is the
favorite thing on the menu.

The recipe is really nothing out of the ordinary but it is the blend of flavors and spices that we love. We all like it so much that I 3-4 times the recipe so we can have some leftovers the next day. My youngest son fills his plate half full of dressing.
1 13 oz bag stuffing croutons
1 1/2 tsp sage
1 1/2 tsp rosemary
1 1/2 tsp thyme
2 tbsp parsley, fresh or dried
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion (1 medium onion)
6 tbsp butter
2-3 cups chicken broth, warm
Chop onions and celery.
In large frying pan melt 4 tbsp butter, add onion and celery, saute until onion is soft.
Place croutons in large bowl and mix in sage, rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt and pepper. Add vegetables to croutons and mix lightly. Add broth slowly to desired moistness. Mix thoroughly.  Place dressing in buttered baking dish and dot with the remaining 2 tbsp butter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 – 40 minutes.
It is the perfect compliment for the roast turkey. We like ours a little on the dry side because we smother it and the turkey in gravy.
Have a Great Thanksgiving!

  1. I can’t get enough stuffing this time of year. I even spread it on my leftover turkey sandwiches. Found your recipe at the Two Cup Tuesday Link Party. I am one of the hostesses of Tickle My Tastebuds and would love you to stop by and link up this recipe if you have not yet already. Here is the link
