Blonde Brownies

I love, love, love chocolate. But every once in while I feel like I should try something different. Even thought these “Blonde Brownies” are not completely chocolate free, they are close.  It is  a great recipe to pull out when you want a change of pace.

Blonde Brownies

3/4 cup butter, softened

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

3 eggs

1 1/2 tbsp vanilla

3/4 cup milk chocolate chips

3/4 cup white chocolate chips

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.  Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.  Beat in eggs on at a time.  Add vanilla.  Beat in the dry ingredients just until blended.  Stir in white and chocolate chips. Spread in a greased 9″ X 13″ baking dish.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.  Cool and cut in to squares.

They are tasty but unfortunately not as big a hit as our regular  “Pecan Fudge Brownies” are.  I guess chocolate rules the day in our family.
